A personal brand is, essentially, your public persona; that for what people recognise you. Your personal brand is what your public associates with your name when they hear it, the values you share, what you stand for, it's who you are. A good personal brand will make you stand out from your competitors, make you memorable and unique for potential new customers or followers. You’ll be able to show what you can do, establish yourself as an expert and, therefore, earn respect and trust from customers. This concept goes beyond social media and can exist in many aspects of one’s life, but in this article, we are going to focus on personal branding in the universe of socials.

With the use of social media, you may confuse the term “personal branding” with a normal, casual use of socials. But the difference is in the purpose. A casual user of social media has the simple intent of entertainment, sharing their personal experiences with their followers simply for pleasure. Meanwhile, the creation of a personal brand has a clear goal. When setting out to establish a social presence with the intent of building your personal brand, your purpose is to build a reputation on a professional level; one that will help you grow as a personality and ascertain your position in whatever area you may work in.

A good personal brand is especially important for small business owners and entrepreneurs who may have their own faces as the face of their business. In an endless sea of possibilities where anyone can create an account on a website and share their experiences and try to sell their products and services, why should one trust you? Through your personal brand you can answer that question. It is essential in this era of social media and technology that you show your public exactly who you are, or which aspects of yourself you want them to know you by. Tell us your story. What are your experiences? What is the path that got you to where you are now? Through a consistent schedule of posts where you share your everyday life and point of view on all manner of things, you are sure to grow an audience who respects and have confidence in what you say, as well as allowing them to feel a connection with you. People will choose your services over someone else’s if they can relate to you and your values. And if you are the face of your business, this type of relationship can be the defining factor in your success.

Do not be afraid to show the world everything about the person you are and the passions you have. The more you share, the more empathy you will create, and the more people you will convince to listen to you and to trust you! So, go on, tell us a bit about yourself and your passions!
